yes but only the positive fan reviews get kept, and thats not a fair opinion of how the fragrance comes across to all of us, theres no need to all jump on me or assume i dont like vintages or wasnt even a thought in existance just because i dont rate the drugstore cheapie dana tabu as a very good perfume. so yes for an under $15 perfume i guess its a piece of work. Just a fact of life that we each have differing tastes and opinions! Im afraid to say i am a huge vintage lover, i have vintage shalimar, opium, coco chanel, paloma picasso, etc etc. it cannot hold up to these grand dames and yet it is lamented everywhere as such and that i find misleading.

i have respect for perfumes not the romantic marketing stories that come with products that become out of whack with what it really is.

btw shalimar my signature is from 1925 and its history is iconic.

Tabu was that night you wore thigh-high stockings but forgot your fake ID, so someone's older sister gave you rootbeer schnapps and after the party you watched the sunrise drinking Constant Comment tea with the guy your friend wanted. I wore this once in high school and the boy who never noticed me asked my name, and the skirt I'd worn all year got measured with a ruler twice. I need to give this at least fifteen minutes on my skin before it really starts to shine as it can smell a little chemical/synthetic and aggressive upon immediate application for me. I’m going to have some fun experimenting and layering this with other fragrances which I love doing these days. My Tabu cologne in the violin shaped bottle is DIVINE in the cold. It's not as appealing as my favorite, Chanel No 5, but I definitely don't mind it and will wear it sometimes. it smells very current, or at least current in a 1970's way! Make no mistake, this is no lightweight, but a couple of spritzes is plenty and this is a lovely smoky, slightly woody scent. Lasts on clothing until laundry day, and even after laundry day, you might still get a slight whiff of this if you sniff hard.

My mother took the bottle away and told me I could have it back when I went to college. Maybe layering it with something sweeter would help. Sweet, mellow, smooth creamy root beer with spice/musk... My daughter said it smells like "that incense you always burn" (nag champra) which I don't agree with. It is warm, spicy, soft, powdery and sexy as hell!! I use one spray on the back of my neck, one spray on my chest and one spray on my wrists (wrists lightly pressed together, not rubbed). Still, I would not say this is a safe blind buy, even though this is so affordable.

This of a sweet ginger cookie with lots of cloves and amber, thats how its smells on me. I do not think it smells cheap at all but I would say this smells more like a cologne than a EDT. I’m not sure if it has changed a little since it has been opened and I’ve used some of it or if it’s just that my taste has moved on or my nose further developed.

I have a small vintage bottle that I got in one of those old drugstores. Whatever the case, this is very good on my skin now and I like it a lot. It reminds me slightly of Lagerfeld Classic but is more spicy and animalic and also pretty much lacks the tobacco aspect that Lagerfeld has. I went ahead and bought a bottle - $11 on Amazon, why not? Honestly for what some may see as a "budget fragrance," this is quite nice, and imho does not smell "cheap"....

I discovered it after reading reviews of other vintage jems that I own. It's probably horribly watered down compared to its vintage self but I don't mind having never smelt the vintage.

I was intrigued by the lady of the night mythology behind this scent and had to add it to my collection. If I want a longer lasting root beer experience I will reach for my signature Youth Dew anyway.

I want to like Tabu but on me it goes almost bitter, and too powdery. Tabu isn't Nag Champra, but it's similar with more of a root beer smell. While I am not a fragrance expert, I have been wearing fragrance almost everyday since Elementary School (yeah, I am one of those people, lol). ), baby powder (not strong though), Nag Champra Indian Incense, dirty vanilla (dirty in the best way), clove cigarettes (in the best way) and Autumn spices. I think if you like Shalimar, Giorgio Red, those types of fragrances, you might like this.

Not an everyday fragrance for me, one that I have to be in the "mood" for; this is nice for say a rainy day or a Fall or snowy Winter day, that sort of thing.

For historical and collecting ratings, this is an easy 8/10.
